Staying young may seem like something that is not within your grasp. However, getting old is not something that we all have to endure. Yes, we age every year, there is nothing you can do to avoid that, but you do not need to get old in the sense getting weak and feeble. The only way to help you through this natural process of life is to stay physically strong.
Many people believe that as long as you exercise, no matter what kind it is that you will stay fit and strong. This is very far from the truth. Cardiovascular exercise may help you burn calories and keep your heart strong, but it does nothing to help you maintain and build lean, tone muscles.
It is the muscle throughout your body that keeps you strong into your later years of life. Toned muscles produce positive hormones that regenerate cells throughout your entire body. This helps to not only keep your internal body strong, but external too. See, these hormones keep your skin firm and vibrant as well, which also helps give the appearance of youth. But here is the biggest advantage; it is not just an appearance because you are young from the inside out.
So, in order to attain this appearance and strength you need to get yourself into a strength training work out. If you can join a gym and work with a trainer to get you started that is a bonus but definitely not necessary; there are many strength training exercises that you can do from the comfort of your own home. What you need to do is make sure you perform a good, proper work out 2-3 times a week at least 20-30 minutes per session. That's all you need; there is no longer a need to perform cardio for 2 hours a day to maintain strength and youth.
At first you may feel a little uncomfortable with some of your routines, but you and your body will adjust. After only a few weeks it will almost feel like second nature. And before long you may even forget what your life was like without these exercises. See, you won't feel it overnight, but you will have more energy and confidence within a matter of months; possibly before you see visible results.
Don't get discouraged if you do not see the scales dropping or your jean size dwindling. A good work out takes time; good results do not happen overnight. Keep your mind on the end result; you are working towards strength and youth. Yes, this is going to take some work and time, but what it adds to your life is priceless. You deserve the best out of life but the only way you will ever get to experience it is to improve your overall health and vitality by participating in such a regime.
