Your Body Is Worth 80% Of Your Time Rather Than 20

There are many things, in life, that an 80/20 rule can be applied to. Purchasing a home, for example; if you can put 20% down and only finance 80% you will be off to a great start. This will help to make your future brighter as you will have more financial room for other things. This same rule can be applied to your health, as silly as it may sound.

If you fill 80% of your diet with healthy food choices and only 20% on junk food or your favorite desert, you will be in better overall health. Sadly, the majority of the world population does quite the opposite. We live in such a fast paced world people eat what they can get their hands on without giving it much thought. This means a lot of eating out at restaurants and fast food joints on top of eating a lot of processed/boxed foods. None of these choices are wise; but if you only do this 20% of the time rather than 80, you will have made a significant change in your health and the way you feel.

The rewards of such choices will not be seen overnight, just as the consequences of your poor eating habits were not seen overnight. It took time to see that expansion in your waste, the increase in numbers on the scale, and the downfall of your overall mood. Well, positive rewards will take time as well. But, when they are positive - giving you more energy and confidence and a smaller waistline - the outcome is much more rewarding. And it is even more so when you realize that it was all because of you that you are suddenly a better person.

So, how do you get there? It is actually quite simple. You need to make a conscious decision every day, every meal, to make healthier meal choices. Instead of getting a cheeseburger from your favorite fast food restaurant, get a chicken Caesar salad. Rather than eating out for dinner, prepare a nice meal for yourself and your family. Rather than eating 3 scoops of ice cream for dessert, eat only 1 or a sweet fruit to help curb that sweet tooth. If you do this 80% of the time, you will soon notice a great difference in the way you feel and the way you see yourself in the mirror.

Other decisions need to be made as well. Rather than watching your favorite TV show every night, take 3 nights a week where you work, challenge, and push different muscle groups throughout your body. Why; because, lean muscle is an asset to not only your body, but to yourself. It is like the down payment on a home; without it you really cannot enjoy the benefits. Muscle provides you with the energy you need to get through each day, it also burns fat. Therefore, the more muscle you have the more energy you will have to work out, and the more fat you will naturally burn even when idle.

It is time to change the way you think; rather than thinking you do not have time for yourself and giving your body only 20% focus, it is time to give it 80% of your time. Make conscious decisions and wise choices and you will reap the rewards. It will take time, but your body will thank you for it. When you live energetically into your 90's you will realize that you made the right choice at just the right time in your life.
